How we breathe, day-to-day, moment-to-moment, affects every system of our bodies.

Oxygen is more important to us than either food or water. We can live without food for weeks, even months and without water for days, but without oxygen, we will die within a matter of minutes.

It only stands to reason that good breathing is not just important for athletes or opera singers but essential for all of us.

In fact, both ancient teachings and modern research correlate good breathing skills with wellness, and poor breathing skills with a strong propensity towards illness. However, poor breathing habits often go unnoticed.

Because breathing occurs naturally without thinking about it, we don't generally think of breathing as something we need to learn to do correctly or even better. Yet, when we take into consideration the great number of things affecting the length, depth, volume, balance, rate, ease, and flow of our breathing such as posture, stress and pollution to name a few, we can begin to understand how the quality of our breathing can diminish over time.

Breath is life.  And so, we must ensure that we are breathing properly and aspire toward optimum breathing.
